Concerns about AI in cyberattacks are rising, prompting companies worldwide to strengthen their cybersecurity strategies, according to a Kaspersky survey.
The study found that 88% of IT and security professionals anticipate the rise of AI use by cybercriminals over the next two years. This threat is leading organizations to focus on enhancing their cyber defense skills, often seeking help from cybersecurity vendors for specialized support and training.
In its latest study titled “Cyber defense & AI: Are you ready to protect your organization?” Kaspersky gathered insights from IT and Information Security professionals across SMEs and large enterprises. It highlights the urgent need to prepare for AI-driven cyberattacks, given nine in ten respondents foresee a significant rise in AI-enhanced attacks within the next two years.
Companies are prioritizing cybersecurity expertise to combat evolving threats, with 92% emphasizing internal training and 90% highlighting the need for external support from cybersecurity vendors. This demand for advanced threat protection spans various sectors, demonstrating a universal need for enhanced cybersecurity capabilities.
As for reinforcing their cyber protection, companies are actively integrating both internal and external expertise. Currently, 41% of companies are either implementing or planning to deploy external support to adapt to the evolving threat landscape, while 40% are doing the same through internal training initiatives. Additionally, 54% already use external cybersecurity expertise, and 56% have training programs, showing a dual approach to fortifying their protection.
“Our latest survey shows that businesses are acutely aware of the rising threat from AI-driven cyberattacks and are looking to reinforce their protection through comprehensive solutions, including the use of vendors’ extensive cybersecurity expertise,” shared Vladislav Tushkanov, Group Manager at the Kaspersky AI Technology Research Center.
Cybersecurity vendors offer various forms of expertise, including specialized services and expert centers focused on specific security challenges.
