Elon Musk’s X, previously called Twitter, has revised its guidelines to officially permit adult and graphic content on the platform.

According to Tech Crunch’s report, the new guidelines stated that “sexual expression, visual or written, can be a legitimate form of artistic expression.”

The guidelines apply to content created by AI, animated content, comics, sexually explicit anime, and Japanese animation.

This content was never explicitly banned, but the guidelines aim to clarify its loose restrictions. The platform has updated its policies to clarify that consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behavior is allowed on the platform.

Posting adult content should be labeled and not prominently displayed, such as in profile pictures or account banners. Meanwhile, adult image and video posts will be automatically marked as sensitive content.

Minors and adults opting out of adult content will be restricted.
