Business-oriented messaging app Viber will bring its digital payments feature to the Philippines.
According to Rakuten Viber, Viber Pay lets users send money quickly and safely, just like sending a message.
“The Philippines stands out as a key market with a robust community of active Rakuten Viber users and a growing demand for secure cashless transactions, and so we expect to see strong demand and usage here for Viber Pay,” said Ritesh Shah, Rakuten Viber Vice President of fintech and business solutions.
There will be two kinds of e-wallets: Personal and Business. The latter will have a bigger transaction limit of P500,000. Early access will start in September, with personal wallets arriving first before the business wallets.
Users can sign up for the waitlist through the “Pay” tab. Once granted, they can activate their digital wallet by verifying their credentials and signing up for a wallet account.
