After CNN Philippines stopped broadcasting last January, Broadcast Network TV5 announced ownership of the channel frequency.
In substituting the channel, TV5 has launched a new channel called RPTV, which is free to watch. It has a variety of programs such as live sports, local action and comedy shows, and the popular noon-time show “Eat Bulaga!”. Moreover, they will broadcast all Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) games and other sports during the weekends.
“The birth of RPTV is aligned with our commitment to elevate the standards of entertainment, sports and public service broadcasting in the Philippines,” said Guido Zaballero, CEO and president of TV5.
You can watch RPTV on different channels in Zamboanga (Channel 5), Baguio (Channel 12), and Bacolod (Channel 8). In Manila, Cebu, and Davao, it’s available on Channel 9 Analog. You can also watch RPTV on SatLite (Channel 9) and Cignal TV (Channel 10) if you have pay TV. GSat (Channel 8) and over 300 other national cable and satellite service providers offer RPTV on their networks.
