Department of Science and Technology (DOST) RO2 through the PSTO Batanes partnered with several organizations to launch a new project to transform Batanes into a smart and sustainable community by boosting its agriculture sector.
In collaboration with Isabela State University, Batanes State College, and the Local Government Unit of Basco, the SMART BASCO LOQALINK project was successfully launched at the Basco Lighthouse. This project would adopt technology to determine potential business opportunities, optimize agricultural production, and improve market access for local farmers.
“By providing farmers with the necessary tools and information, we hope to enhance their livelihoods and contribute to the overall development of Batanes,” said DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr.
LOQALINK will go through several phases and is expected to create integrated information systems, boost support programs, improve government capabilities, and make government services more accessible.
