Daily life is primarily digital and instant nowadays. As fathers, we’re becoming the superheroes we grew to watch and love when we were very young― for our families and kids. But with the hustle and bustle of work and family life, self-care gets pushed to the bottom of our agenda, like forgetting to eat that one satisfying last piece of pizza.
So, I’m saying this now. We must find time to care for ourselves, no matter how hectic. Luckily, mobile apps exist to meet anyone’s needs, including ones that allow us to stay on top of our game. That said, there are three free-to-use apps to make our lives a whole lot easier:
Calm (Android/iOS, optional paid subscription)
For various reasons, whether it’s your children being too noisy in the middle of the night or your mind being too tired from the daily grind to rest up, sleeping snug and tight is often difficult to achieve.
With the Calm app, though, sleeping, meditating, and relaxing will be less challenging. The app can also help dads escape those restless nights.
Youper (iOS/Android)
No matter how great of a father you are, we’re only human at the end of the day. We can experience anxiety and depression even if we try to act tough all the time. On the other hand, if we are willing to take therapy, it’s more of a luxury (AKA too expensive!).
But Youper offers a way to bring you some emotional support at your fingertips without giving up a penny. Leveraging the power of AI, the app can keep a close eye on your mental and emotional health without taking too much of your time. Once a day, the app will ask you interesting questions to help you walk through your self-improvement journey. It’s like having a personal counselor with a tailor-made plan designed by experts.
7 Minutes Workout (Android/iOS, ads + in-app purchases)
Too busy to exercise? Then clear out at least 7 minutes of your time to exercise with the 7 Minutes Workout app! This app already has a roster of workout routines to choose from that cater to all our body goals– or, well, keep our dad bods in shape, really.
For 7 minutes daily, you only have to follow the instructions on the app and what exercises you have to do, leaving you feeling energized and accomplished!
To sum it all up, having time for us to unwind is just as important as taking care of our families.
It’s neither selfish nor weak to care for our own well-being. Superheroes in the movies need time for themselves too.
In fact, it’s a personal refresher to ourselves so we can support our loved ones better.
So, got other self-care apps to recommend? Tell us in the comments!
