President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recently signed the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) law, aimed to raise the quality of education in the Philippines.
“This law demonstrates our collective resolve to uplift the state of education in the Philippines. With ARAL, we can help students regain their momentum and achieve the learning milestones they deserve,” shared Education Secretary Sonny Angara, who thanked the president for the program’s approval.
ARAL Law is a free national learning intervention program for students struggling in their lessons to attain competencies set by the Department of Education (DepEd). The program will target learners in Kinder that will help them “build foundational skills” in literacy and numeracy, reading and mathematics for Grades 1 to 10, and science for Grades 3 to 10.
This law program requires various teachers, from para-teachers to pre-service teachers, to help learners. However, teachers wanting to enlist in the program must not be tutors of their own learners.
Public school learners can access the program through in-person tutorials, online setups, or arrangements of both.
