The Philippine National Police (PNP) shared the successful rescue operation of a six-year-old boy from online sexual abuse and exploitation done by his mother and her partner in Laguna.
According to PNP-Anti-Cybercrime Group chief Maj. Gen. Ronnie Francis Cariaga, the entrapment operation on October 17 led to the surrender of four mobile phones used for the child’s abuse.
This is after arresting a 33-year-old man from New South Wales, Australia on September 19, who identified the child’s mother as the instigator of the crimes. The man had been paying US dollars in exchange for the images and videos, as well as for the child to perform sexual acts online.
These two suspects, whose identities are kept private for legal and child protection reasons, went through inquest proceedings on October 18 and were under police custody. They will be facing charges for violating the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (Republic Act 11930) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act.
The child was sent to the Calamba City Social Services Department for help and support.
