Strong Group Athletics’ basketball team will once more represent the Philippine team in the 43rd William Jones Cup, which will be held from July 13 to 21 in Taipei.
“Strong Group Athletics has been contributing to Philippine sports by supporting athletes and national sports associations (NSAs) such as the SBP,” said Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) executive director Erika Dy on SGA’s inaugural participation in the event.
Coaches Charles Tiu and Rajko Toroman, who led SGA and had previously served as the Philippines’ representatives in the 2024 Dubai International Basketball Championships, will lead the team.
SGA is finalizing player signings for the tournament.
“We will form a team that will be ready to win it all and that Filipinos will be proud of,” said Tiu.
Jacob Lao, the president of Strong Group Athletics, stressed the importance of highlighting the skills of Filipinos at the global level as one of their main goals.
“Strong Group Athletics was formed to help in showcasing what the Filipino athlete can do on the international stage,” shared Lao.
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, with support from Ange Kouame, represented the Philippines in last year’s Jones Cup and finished in fifth place.
