The Philippines will host the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) 2025 event for the first time next year. The meeting of the inter-agency technical working group (TWG) took place at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.
Ramon Suzara, Head of both the Asian Volleyball Confederation and the Philippine National Volleyball Federation, said the meeting for the FIVB 2025 Men’s World Championship drew great interest from various government and non-government agencies.
“As we gather here, we are tasked to establish our comprehensive strategies and ensure all our relevant assignments are well-coordinated to achieve the smooth and outstanding staging of this world championship,” said Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachmann, who welcomed more than 40 representatives from 20 different agencies and organizations.
“We have already proven our capacity to stage this kind of international tournament after our successful hosting of multiple continental and global events this year,” he added.
Suzara is also the president and CEO of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the World Championships. The event will take place from September 12 to 28, 2024, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City and the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
William Vincent Araneta-Marcos and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano co-chair the LOC. Senator Pia Cayetano, Bachmann, Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham Tolentino, and MVP Group of Companies head Manuel V. Pangilinan are also members.
Others in the meeting include representatives from the POC, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Transportation, Department of Education, Bureau of Customs, Department of Public Works and Highways, Bureau of Immigrations, Department of Foreign Affairs, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Philippine National Police, Department of Finance, Department of Budget and Management, Office of Senator Alan Cayetano, Philippine National Anti-Doping Organization, Department of Tourism, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Metro Manila Development Authority, and Philippine Postal Corporation.
A total of thirty nations, the Philippines included, are participating in the world championship.
