The one-year trial for E-Lotto finally launched, allowing Filipinos and OFWs aged 18 and above to bet online via the website and the Android app.
According to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), lottery bettors can buy tickets and claim prizes online by registering their Philippine government-issued ID and a local mobile number. As such, Filipinos abroad and foreigners must have a Philippine-based SIM card and a Philippine government ID to register on the platform.
For now, GCash is the only available transaction option for buying tickets and claiming the jackpots. The PCSO plans to expand payment options in the future.
“Should you win, you could also use it. For a certain amount, you could insert it in your e-wallet,” explained PCSO general manager Mel Robles in a One PH interview.
The E-Lotto system is secure and reliable, according to Pacific Online Systems Corporation (POSC), the exclusive agent for the one-year pilot.
“We have measures such as data encryption, access control, security audits, audit logs, network security, and data loss prevention,” said Jackson Ongsip, POSC President.
PCSO has increased the minimum jackpot prizes for two big games as a part of their “Handog Pakabog” Christmas program. Starting from December 16, Grand Lotto 6/55 and Ultra Lotto 5/58 will have guaranteed minimum jackpots of PHP500 million jackpots.
PCSO said lotto funds help important government charity programs like healthcare, education, and social welfare. They will increase the minimum jackpot prize to get more players to participate and support these initiatives.
