The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) planned to establish a digital hotline to make early announcements of class and government work suspensions.
“The task is to guarantee the Office of the President can make announcements before 4 in the morning whenever need be,” said the newly-appointed PCO Secretary Cesar Chavez.
Chavez added that the announcements would also cover decisions by local government units to suspend classes or government work, or if the Palace will implement a region-wide suspension.
“We will take the risk. We will take the risk to announce suspension of class or government work before 4 o’clock even if it gets sunny by 9 or 11 in the morning,” Chavez added.
He explained that the template allows the PCO to make announcements as early as the evening if there’s a weather problem detected in Metro Manila and its surroundings.
Due to Tropical Storm Enteng (Typhoon Yagi) and the southwest monsoon, several areas in Luzon and Visayas have been experiencing heavy rains for almost a week, leading to class and government work suspensions nationwide.
