OpenAI has launched a web search feature on its ChatGPT platform. This feature allows the chatbot to source information from online in real time.
Although a little late in the game, the company has finally made it possible to provide the feature. By partnering with news and data providers to gather information, users can check out any updates happening in real-time, including weather, stocks, sports, news, and maps.
“We collaborated extensively with the news industry and carefully listened to feedback from our global publisher partners, including Associated Press, Axel Springer, Condé Nast, Dotdash Meredith, Financial Times, GEDI, Hearst, Le Monde, News Corp, Prisa (El País), Reuters, The Atlantic, Time, and Vox Media,” stated the company in its blog.
Conversations with ChatGPT have also improved. Similar to Bing, users will now receive links to sources for any questions they ask, including news articles and blog posts. However, unlike Bing, users have to click on the “Sources” button below the platform’s response to view the sources, rather than having them displayed immediately after the response.
Accessible on desktop and mobile apps, ChatGPT Search is found in the Search option after entering a prompt, where it will thoroughly check what you might need.
This feature will be available to Enterprise and Edu users in the coming weeks, while free users will have to wait over the coming months.
