GMA Network is breaking new ground in the sports broadcasting industry by introducing the Philippines’ first-ever Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated sportscasters.
A joint effort between GMA Integrated News (GMAIN), GMA New Media Inc. (NMI), and GMA Synergy, these AI-generated sportscasters will show up on September 24 at the start of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99.
Maia and Marco will not only report on NCAA Season 99 but also local and international sports featuring Filipino athletes for GMAIN, GMA Sports, and GMA Synergy on social media.
Artificial intelligence is used to generate Maia and Marco’s images, voices, and facial animations.
“The rise of generative AI not only transforms how we share news and information, but it also fuels our creative process and redefines the landscape of modern video production. It doesn’t replace human ingenuity; instead, it amplifies it, making our storytelling more powerful and accessible,” NMI Studios Head of Creatives Ramil Escarda explained.

The opening ceremony for the NCAA Season 99: New Heroes of the Game will be broadcast on September 24 at 2:00 PM on GMA and GTV.
