Mayor Honey Lacuna welcomed the Manila athletes who competed and thrived in Palarong Pambansa 2024 last July, awarding them cash incentives totaling PHP685,000.
The awardees included 95 athletes and 52 coaches, recognized for their outstanding performance.
Lacuna expressed hope that Manila can produce another Olympic champion like Carlos Yulo, who recently won two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Hopefully, you will be like our national athletes who will wave our flag in the upcoming Olympics,” shared the mayor.
She pledged that her administration would keep supporting athletes by creating more programs to help the city develop more top performers.
The Palarong Pambansa is an annual multi-sport event featuring student-athletes from 17 regions countrywide and from the National Academy of Sports and Philippine schools abroad.
