Google Play in Android KitKat Phones Ends Support by August. Upgrade Your Phone Now!

If your old smartphone runs on Android KitKat (Android 4.4), you better upgrade now. KitKat will have a break for good from Google Play support by August.

According to Android Developers Blog, Google will be moving on in supporting devices running KitKat OS to updating Google Play services. This is because the active device count for KitKat is only less than 1%.

“As of July 2023, the active device count on KK is below 1% as more and more users update to the latest Android versions. Therefore, we are no longer supporting KK in future releases of Google Play services,” it explains on the official blog

Google Play will barely function as a service, including being unable to update your apps and logging in to your Google Account.
