Sky Cable announced its final broadcast and sign-off on February 26 this year after PLDT acquired its broadband business and related assets.
“In anticipation of and pursuant to the closing conditions of the PLDT-Sky acquisition deal, Sky will now begin its transition into a dedicated internet service provider,” Sky Cable informed its subscribers via text message.
PLDT Inc. has received approval from the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) to purchase Sky Cable’s broadband business and assets for PHP 6.75 billion. However, the sale of 100% of Sky Cable’s ownership is still pending the fulfillment of final closing conditions. ABS-CBN Corp. will provide more information once these conditions are met.
Sky Cable assured its customers that they will not be charged for their cable TV subscription fees from January 27 to February 26. Subscribers will also have uninterrupted internet service during the said period.
