In an effort to alleviate involuntary hunger, telco giant Globe partnered with US-based non-profit Project PEARLS to expand the reach of its Hapag Movement advocacy program to a global audience.
United States citizens can donate to the Hapag Movement through Project PEARLS via https://givebutter.com/unitevshunger. Project PEARLS can provide certificates for all US-based donations.
Globe has partnered with Hapag Movement to expand its reach in the US, home to over 4 million Filipino-Americans. This partnership aims to support Hapag’s cause, meaning “table” in Tagalog, where people gather to share meals. The project calls on US individuals and businesses to donate funds to support their cause.
“With Project PEARLS’ expansive network, we can accelerate positive change and help more Filipino families in need,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.
The Hapag Movement empowers partner organizations to work together to provide food packs to over 95,000 Filipinos, and offer livelihood training to 2,662 graduates. The movement has helped 2,361 graduates to start their own small businesses since its launch in 2022.
Project PEARLS was founded in 2010 to end poverty in the Philippines. It operates in various communities and offers scholarships to over 700 students, daily meals, a health clinic, literacy clubs, and women’s livelihood training. It opens new avenues toward uplifting underserved Filipino communities.
