Manila will have its first-ever Cancer Center in the city, offering free services for cancer patients. It will be constructed next month, built at the Ospital ng Maynila compound.
According to 5th district Congressman Irwin Tieng, Mayor Honey Lacuna decided to allot 2,000 square meters for the Manila Cancer Center.
They will lead the MCC groundbreaking ceremony next month, accompanied by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, senior congressional officials, and other Manila congressmen and officials at the upcoming event.
Ospital ng Maynila is one of the six public hospitals run by the city government and provides free medical services for Manila residents.
The MCC will be named after the late Gov. Benjamin ‘Kokoy’ Romualdez, father of Speaker Romualdez.
Tieng stated that the MCC will be constructed to a height of up to five stories and equipped with essential tools for treating cancer patients. As the Cancer Center’s budget is limited, its initial offerings will include a CT scan and a linear accelerator, which will provide patients with non-invasive radiation therapy.
