The recent release of the National Cybersecurity Plan 2023-2028 (NCSP) demonstrates the country’s commitment to safeguarding Filipinos from cybercrimes. The plan aims to establish a strong and protected digital environment by promoting cooperation, enhancing capabilities, and implementing strategic efforts to combat cyber threats.
Following its release, Kaspersky provides valuable perspectives on the implications of the NCSP and its potential influence on the future of cybersecurity in the country.
Genie Sugene Gan, Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy for the Asia-Pacific, Japan, Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa Regions at Kaspersky, stressed the importance of the Philippine government’s efforts to protect Filipinos from cybercrimes. The aim is to provide national and local government agencies with the necessary tools to safeguard their areas effectively.
“Moving forward, cybercrimes will undoubtedly become more sophisticated, and cybercriminals will relentlessly hunt for new victims. It is imperative that the nation and its citizens are equipped to face these challenges head-on, ensuring their safety and security in the digital world,” said Gan.
Gan emphasized the importance of implementing the policy direction and operational guidelines under NCSP to address cyberattacks’ economic and emotional impact on society.
“NCSP provides a strategic framework for addressing cyber threats comprehensively and ensuring the resilience of our digital infrastructure, and we’re optimistic about its effective implementation,” she added.
Kaspersky has been raising awareness about cybercrimes and empowering individuals and organizations to protect themselves.
Over the years, Kaspersky has forged fruitful partnerships with global government and law enforcement agencies like INTERPOL. From September to December 2023, they conducted a Kaspersky Expert Training series for INTERPOL officers, introducing advanced threat detection and mitigation strategies. Kaspersky’s GReAT and CERT experts also provided reverse engineering and incident response training.
