Love is a beautiful thing, especially when it’s shared within families.
Save the Children Philippines knows this all too well for kids, so they recently organized a heartwarming event to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Children are given a chance to express their feelings by writing letters to their parents, which they share on social media with the hashtag “#LoveLetterChallenge.”
Old but gold, what these wrote would touch someone’s heartstrings in various ways:
The non-profit organization has been encouraging parents to adopt “Positive Parenting,” emphasizing growth and learning by providing responsive and intentional care, while also setting clear and consistent rules and expectations.
“Filipino children themselves desire positive change in their homes and seek closer connections with their families, without the use of physical or humiliating punishment,” said Save the Children Philippines’ Advocacy Manager Atty. Emma Salmani.
Based on their survey about positive parenting, around 58% of people do not think using physical or verbal punishment on children is the best way to make them behave. In fact, over 70% of the respondents believe there are other ways to discipline children without punishing them.
Positive Parenting encourages a child’s growth and development while still instilling discipline, without the negative effects of physical or verbal punishment.
