147

After the success of its previous programs, the Quezon City Government is accepting applications for Cohort 3 of the Startup QC Professional Category.

The goal of the StartUp QC Program is to support impactful startups that contribute to economic and innovation growth in the city. It involves onboarding early-stage startups to help them improve their preparedness for the next stage of their entrepreneurial journey.

Startups that qualify will participate in customized Learning, Engagement, and Development (LEAD) sessions over a period of three to four months. During this time, they will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts, mentors, advisors, and accelerators. This is to help these startups progress from the prototype stage to creating market-ready products and services and accelerate their business growth.

The program ends with a Demo Day, where participants pitch their ideas to stakeholders from the startup ecosystem and can receive grants of up to PHP 1 million.

To qualify, startup applicants must have at least one team member who is a resident of Quezon City and is at least 21 years old. Additionally, they must have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that is not replicating existing programs or projects as determined by the QCGov. They must submit a video pitch of up to 5 minutes along with a business plan that does not exceed 10 pages.

StartUp QC Professional Category application runs until June 27, 2024. Applicants must register and submit the requirements through the QC E-services at qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph.

The initiative supports Mayor Joy Belmonte’s vision to turn Quezon City into the Philippines’ startup and innovation hub. It aims to create local jobs and drive economic innovation through government and non-government collaboration.

The StartUp QC program was established under Ordinance SP-3109, S-2022, and is supported by prestigious institutions, including the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Ateneo de Manila University, Miriam College, Technological Institute of the Philippines, Thames International Business School, University of the Philippines Diliman, and startup accelerators like StartUp Village and Launchgarage.
