Bulacan State University (BSU) student developers emerged as winners of the third iTHINK Hackathon organized by the ISLA Camp (ICP HUB Philippines).

The iTHINK Hackathon is a part of the International Conference on Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (IRCITE) 2024. It focuses on projects that use the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), a blockchain technology that offers substantial advantages over traditional blockchains regarding scalability, security, and performance.

Six talented Web3 developer teams from different universities showcased groundbreaking solutions to contemporary challenges across various domains in the competition.

Team Open Soars presented their Web3 innovation “Communitask” which connects individuals with micro-opportunities to bridge the job market gap. They were guided by their coach, Gabriel M. Galang.

CobraBytes from Central Luzon State University won second place. They created a tokenized educational credit system that allows students to earn tokens for educational achievements and exchange them for materials within the university ecosystem.

Team spcF.coMeLex won third place with their app Attend.ly, a blockchain-based mobile app that encourages student engagement and streamlines attendance management.

iTHINK hackathon winners can access extra funding from the DFINITY Foundation, a non-profit that supports Web3 and AI initiatives in Asia. ISLA Camp (ICP HUB Philippines) identifies and incubates promising talent from these programs.

“The Philippines is a breeding ground for some of the most talented innovators in the world. ISLA Camp (ICP HUB Philippines) recognizes this potential, and our goal is to establish the Philippines as a global hub for Web3 developers, attracting international investment and creating a thriving tech ecosystem,” said Nelson Lumbres, co-founder of ISLA Camp (ICP HUB Philippines).

ISLA Camp (ICP HUB Philippines) is organizing the “Push to the Limits” iTHINK Hackathon, a nationwide Web3 hackathon with a prize pool of up to PHP 225,000. The competition, supported by PDAX, Bitskwela, BIT (Bicol IT Org), and DEVCON, will be held online from April 6 to 30, 2024.
