A network of Filipino digital advocates, Digital Pinoys, urged Ayala Land and Globe Telecom to waive their lease fees for broadband providers, to help provide affordable internet services for everyone.
According to Ronald Gustilo, a national campaigner for Digital Pinoys, eliminating lease fees for telcos could lead to better internet and telecommunication services and enhance overall connectivity. He emphasized that Ayala Land and Globe should take the initiative to set a precedent by eliminating lease fees in their property developments.
“This will impact the lives of internet users in our country positively. As Globe has already led the campaign for zero lease fees, Ayala as a major shareholder of the telco giant should be the leading real estate firm to implement the program,” he explained.
Gustilo also added that Globe should remove fees from its e-wallet app GCash if it is truly interested in serving the public interest and lessening the burden on its consumers.
