In its first-anniversary celebration, Ophir bestowed forty-five grassroots churches across the Philippines with 250 million cryptocurrency tokens each. These generous endowments contribute to supporting their operations, community outreach, and worship activities.
“Many of our local churches struggle with rising costs and limited funding, leaving them unable to maintain their buildings, expand programs, or support their communities effectively. We want to help them by providing not an immediate financial solution but a strategic tool for long-term sustainability,” said Jon Blaylock, founder of the Ophir project.
This initiative also provides extensive educational sessions led by Ophir’s leaders and volunteer blockchain experts. This is to empower church leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed decisions about their endowments. The sessions covered a wide range of topics, including how to stake tokens securely, navigate the Ophir marketplace, and manage digital assets responsibly.
Since its launch in August 2023, the Ophir project has distributed tokens to 256 small churches and congregations nationwide. The tokens can be staked for a maximum of 22 years, granting the churches to receive up to 1887% interest in additional Ophir tokens. This enables them to build wealth gradually and prepare them for future challenges and growth without risking financial depletion.
For instance, the Christ the Power of God Worship Center in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, sold their scraped Ophir tokens to cover the rent for their new mission house after their previous building was foreclosed. While others, like the Doulos Christos Pag-asa in Antipolo, Rizal was able to purchase a screen monitor, and Jesus is Victorious Church in Ajuy, Iloilo used the funds to acquire musical instruments for their worship services.
Built on the PulseChain protocol, Ophir intends to inspire the establishment of a digital nation “consisting of hearts and minds determined to give, and where all prosper together instead of at each other’s expense.”
As the project grows, Ophir seeks more local churches to benefit from similar initiatives that will unlock abundance and fuel generosity towards those most in need.
